Rotary Paddle Dryer
Rotary vacuum paddle dryer is a jacketed cylindrical vessel with a large diameter hollow shaft. Attached to the shaft are hollow paddles provided with specially designed scraper blades, which scrape the entire internal surface of the dryer and continuously move and rotate the material thereby precluding the possibility of material remaining in contact with hot surfaces for protracted periods of time.

The jacket and hollow shaft with paddles can be heated with hot water, steam or any other thermal fluid capable of providing a large indirect heat transfer area. Cooling can be also be done by cold water, brine or any other refrigerant through the jacket and hollow shaft.

Limpet coil can be provided in lieu of jacket, if liquid heating medium is used. Hard facing of shaft provided in way of gland packing areas of trunions. Arrangements for nitrogen purging provided. Bag cleaning arrangements with pulsation by nitrogen jet injector provided.

Heavy duty trunions and bearings support the hollow shaft (agitator) and the drive is provided by means of a motor through reduction gears chain and sprocket.

Provision has also been made to insert four breaker bars inside the dryer shell for particle size reduciton.

In special cases, stationary scraper blade can be provided to scrape the rotating agitator, for highly sticky materials.

Operation:
  • Slurry/wet cake is charged through the charging door while keeping rotation of the agitator on.
  • Vacuum is then applied to the dryer along with dust catcher (mounted on the dryer) condenser and receiver.
  • Heating medium is passed through the jacket and agitator. Vigorous evaporation of moisture take place under vacuum. Industrial Spin Flash Dryer
Spin flash drying system has been introduced in the country in a big way by ude. It is a continuous bulk drying system which helps in energy savings, low labour deployment, sfd for pharma application exporter, agitated nutsche filter suppliers, uniform quality products, low space requirement and minimal dusting due to negative pressures in the system during drying.

The design of the spin flash drying system depends, inter alia, upon product characteristics, capacity and other specific application requirements. Consequently every system is custom designed.However, the basic configuration is as follows:

Hot air generator:
Clean and dry atmospheric air is heated by any of the following means:
  • steam
  • indirect oil firing
  • indirect gas firing
  • electrical heater

Feeder Unit:
A feeder unit incorporating a lump breaker and screw feeder is provided for continuous dosing of the dryer at a constant rate. The design of the lump breaker and screw depends on the characteristics of the material to be fed i. E. Wet, pasty, lumpy, sticky, caked etc.

Drying Chamber
Bottom section: The configuration of the bottom section which is provided with a pulverizer and agitator, differs widely depending on the characteristics, properties and behavior of the material to be dried. Hot air entry at the bottom is arranged in such a manner that it receives a spinning motion as it rises in the drying chamber. Also provided in the bottom section is a nozzle connected to the feeder unit, and the wet cake entering the drying chamber is flash dried to a great extent, and most of the particles immediately get air-borne and move with the hot air, spinning upwards. Agglomerates, while going down are broken up by the shearing action of the agitator and become air borne. Larger particles fall into the pulveriser and the particle size is reduced. They also are then picked up by the rising stream of hot air.
Middle section: This consists of a cylindrical section where the particle laden hot air rises in a spinning direction and the particles get dried. For products of a sticky nature a special wall scraper is provided.
Top section: This section which is also cylindrical has a classifier through which dry particles of only the desired micron size can pass. Larger particles again go down where they are further reduced in size to enable them to transit the classifier.

Power separation section: From the outlet of the drying chamber the dry powder along with hot air passes into a cyclone or bag filter or a combination of both. Dry powder is separated from air and is collected in a dry product bin provided with a motor driven air lock rotary discharge valve. Powder recovery is almost 100 per cent.

Exhaust fan: an exhaust fan is connected with the powder separation section by suitable ducting. It draws the solids along with the moisture laden air from the drying chamber and through the powder separation section and discharges the moisture-laden air into the atmosphere.
